The declaration of modern Witches and Wiccans, as well as Freemasons, is “So mote it be,” an archaic way of saying “It is so,” “So it is/will be” or “So may it be.” A Christian or Jewish magician might say “Amen,” meaning “I believe” or “So be it.” Egyptian style magicians might use the Sun god name Amun, which some think is the source of the word Amen, as the creative force. The term kia can be used as a declarative by followers of the ground-breaking magician Austin Spare, who referred to it as a state of “in-betweenness” or “neither-neither” that is the source of magick, a cosmic desire that some might see as part of the Higher Self or akin to what Crowley called the True Will. “So be it.” “It is so” and “It is done” are also used by some who shy away from specific religious terminology.
